I live in a small town in Northern California. I have 2 boys one getting ready for college and one in middle school. The economy has forced me to reinvent myself. I am now a free lance bookkeeper but I dont have medical insurance for me and my youngest child. My oldest has a life long medical condition so I have to make sure to cover his HUGE premium to keep him covered. I have applied for Medi-Cal but i am a homeowner so I am always denied. Plus, his specialists do not take Medi-Cal. He is delayed and I will have to continue to take care of him for at least another 4-5 years. Between his medical bills and the regular expenses I can't do it. I am behind 5 months on mortgage and have been trying fruitlessly to get a loan modification because my bank will modify my interest rate and I will never be able to afford the interest alone. Right now I can't afford the interest only payment let alone the property tax and Ins. They put me on trial payments and then say I dont qualify. I am scared of loosing my house, low income housing in my area is more than my morgage payment and has a 7-12 month waitin list. There is no such thing as a shelter in my area as there is snow. I want to go back to school to become a nurse I dont have any idea how I can accomplish that and still pay for groceries, heat, kids school etc. I give and give of myself and my time and now I really need some help. I don't have much at all. IÂ
